InspireHER Springfield Dedicates Two New Murals in Downtown Springfield

Members of InspireHER Springfield, the mural committee and community supporters gathered Saturday, June 13th to officially dedicate two new murals in downtown Springfield.
The celebration marked the completion of InspireHER Springfield’s first community project. Formed in 2024 as a program of the Springfield Community Foundation, InspireHER brings women together to strengthen the community through service, collaboration and leadership.
“These murals are colorful reminders of what can happen when neighbors come together with a shared purpose,” said Shannon Sands, vice president of the Springfield Community Foundation. “They reflect the spirit of our town and the generosity, creativity and enthusiasm of everyone who helped bring them to life.”
The murals were created to add color, encourage connection and build community pride while giving residents and visitors another reason to explore downtown Springfield.
“We are honored that our building could play a small part in bringing this mural to life,” said Micah Kohles of Woodland Animal Hospital. “. The artwork is a wonderful reflection of the creativity, pride, and spirit of this community, and we are excited for Woodland Animal Hospital to be a lasting part of that story. As a locally owned veterinary hospital, we are passionate about providing exceptional care while also being an active and engaged member of the community.”
“As local small-business owners, we feel incredibly grateful to have this beautiful community mural on our building in the heart of town,” said Alicia Victora of ReMain. “It has transformed our space into a source of pride, connection and inspiration for the entire community.”
Special thanks were extended to InspireHER members, mural committee members, project leader Julie Fjell, the participating building owners, the Springfield Community Foundation, Midlands Community Foundation and Rick and Patricia Iske for their support and generosity.
“This is InspireHER Springfield’s first completed project, and we hope it is only the beginning,” Sands said.
