Legacy & Memorial Giving
Estate & Legacy Gifts
Leave a lasting legacy by including Springfield Community Foundation in your estate plan, will or trust. A planned gift is a meaningful way to support our community for generations to come while creating a legacy that reflects your values and the causes you care about most.
Memorial Gifts
A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone who has passed away. Gifts may be made in their memory, including at the request of a family in lieu of flowers.
IRA Giving
Give Directly From Your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a charitable gift directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). When completed correctly, the gift may count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may help reduce your taxable income.
How to Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution

1. Contact Your IRA Custodian
Contact the bank or financial company that holds your IRA.

2. Request a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
Tell your custodian you want to make a direct charitable gift from your IRA.

3. Provide the Foundation Information

Springfield Community Foundation
P.O. Box 64
Springfield, NE 68059

4. Make the Check Payable to the Foundation
The check should be payable directly to Springfield Community Foundation, not to you personally.

5. Direct the Gift
If you would like your gift directed to a specific fund, include the fund name with the distribution instructions.

6. Keep Your Records
Save the confirmation from your IRA custodian and the receipt from Springfield Community Foundation.

Important Reminder

A Qualified Charitable Distribution must be made directly from your IRA to the charitable organization to qualify. Keep your receipt, acknowledgment letter and other documentation with your tax records.

Please consult your tax or financial advisor regarding your individual circumstances.
